THREE BEARS PARK
DELANCEY STREET
ABOUT US
The Friends of Three Bears Park (AKA Friends of Delancey Street Park) is a non-profit organization created to maintain and enhance Three Bears Park, located on Delancey Street between Third and Fourth Streets, in Philadelphia.
Friends of Three Bears was incorporated in 1989 to address deteriorating conditions in the Park. The Friends have renovated and rehabbed the entire park. This included installing a new and larger playground set, new soft surface, new benches and tables, resurfacing and repairing all bricks, cement, slate walkways and common areas, and replacing a nonfunctional fountain with a tree and flower garden. The Friends organizes annual fundraising events to raise enough funds to manage the cost of weekly cleaning and maintenance of the park grounds and equipment.
All projects are financed through proceeds from the annual Fall Festival, Park after Dark, and private donations. Friends of Three Bears also host a Halloween Trick or Treat Exchange & Costume Contest, Spring Love Your Park Clean Up, and an Easter Egg Hunt.
The Friends of Three Bears Park works with users of the Park, neighborhood residents, the Society Hill Civic Association, the Horticultural Society of Philadelphia, and the City of Philadelphia’s Department of Parks and Recreation Department to maintain an atmosphere that is inviting, enjoyable, and safe to all who visit its unique setting.
